Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan celebrated ‘World Sight Day’ on October 8, 2009 by conducting a pan-Pakistan ‘Cataract Marathon’, where all Cataract Surgeries held in LRBT Hospitals were sponsored by the bank.
Standard Chartered Bank donated a sum of Rs 1.8 million to LRBT for sponsorship of all cataract surgeries for the day. This effort has resulted in saving eyesights of more than thousand people on this day alone.
Commenting on the contribution, Badar Kazmi, Chief Executive, Standard Chartered Bank, Pakistan said,” Blindness is a global challenge that we can only combat if businesses, individuals and the society join hands. Our commitment to ‘Seeing is Believing’ is absolute and ongoing and we hope to make a difference to the community in Pakistan. We hope that this gift of sight will help change the lives of our misfortunate brethren forever.”
Standard Chartered Bank has a global commitment towards preventable blindness called ‘Seeing is Believing’. So far, these efforts in Pakistan have resulted in saving more than 200,000 eyesights.
