LRBT was established in 1984 by 2 retiring businessmen Graham Layton & Zaka Rahmatulla.
In its first year of operation 11,699 patients visited its Out Patients Department (OPD) and 546 major and minor eye surgeries were performed.
LRBT has now grown to a network of 19 eye hospitals & 63 clinics.
The network of hospitals and PECCs is spread over 4 provinces of the country in a manner that no Pakistani is more than a 3 hour bus ride away from an LRBT facility.
In over 35 years of our existence 49 million patients have been treated and over 4.8 million major and minor surgeries have been performed
All treatment as well as surgery at LRBT is totally free for the poor complying with our mission, “No man, woman or child should go blind simply because they cannot afford the treatment.” LRBT has touched & improved the lives of more people than any other NGO in Pakistan.
