In over 35 years of operations, we have saved the sight of over 53 Million patients and performed more than 5 Million surgeries. LRBT is the major provider of eye care in the country totally free for the poor. LRBT impacts and improve the life of more patients than any NGO in the country.

IN YEAR 2021
During the year ending June’21 we treated 2.7 million patients in OPD and performed over 277,057 major & minor surgeries.
LRBT apart from General Ophthalmology (which includes Cataract) runs several special programs including Pediatric, Female blindness, School Screening, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy.
LRBT runs the largest programme for postgraduate ophthalmological training in the country with 51 doctors currently in its Fellowship/Membership programmes at Korangi, Lahore Township and Lahore (Multan Road) Tertiary hospitals.
In addition it trains approximately 60 students every year in diploma & certificate programmes for Ophthalmic Assistant, Ophthalmic Technicians, Refractionists and Operating Theatre Technicians in its School of Ophthalmic Paramedicine at Korangi Hospital.

Our History
LRBT was established in 1984 by 2 retiring businessmen Graham Layton & Zaka Rahmatulla.
In its first year of operation 11,699 patients visited its Out Patients Department (OPD) and 546 major and minor eye surgeries were performed.
LRBT has now grown to a network of 19 eye hospitals & 61 clinics.
The network of hospitals and PECCs is spread over 4 provinces of the country in a manner that no Pakistani is more than a 3 hour bus ride away from an LRBT facility.
In over 35 years of our existence 53 million patients have been treated and over 4.8 million major and minor surgeries have been performed
All treatment as well as surgery at LRBT is totally free for the poor complying with our mission, “No man, woman or child should go blind simply because they cannot afford the treatment.” LRBT has touched & improved the lives of more people than any other NGO in Pakistan.
