LRBT Skill Development

LRBT strongly believes in training its doctors and mid-level medical personnel to give best quality care to our patients. Education and skill development is a continuous process and LRBT is accredited with College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan, Sindh Medical Faculty and Jinnah Medical College and Hospital. We not only offer post graduate training to doctors but also different short courses for para medical staff.

Post Graduate Training of Doctors

LRBT is registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, LRBT strongly believes in training its doctors to give the best quality care to the patients. The disciplines offered under the Postgraduate training program are FCPS in General Ophthalmology, FCPS VR, FCPS Orbit & Oculoplastics at our 03 Tertiary Eye Care Hospitals. At present 46 FCPS and 5 MCPS trainees are undergoing postgraduate training and 89 of our doctors at tertiary and secondary hospitals are undergoing various types of procedural trainings.

Ophthalmic Technician Certification

The course aims to teach skills required to understand, diagnose, treat and prevent eye diseases prevalent in the population. The course is continually updated in response to changing needs, a new development in knowledge according to advancement in technology and students feedback. Lectures cover topics ranging from basic epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, management, and prevention of these diseases.

Refraction

The course is designed to teach refraction trainees the skills required to understand, diagnose, treat and prevent complications of refractive errors that are prevalent in the population. A particular feature of the course is the diversity of students who attend it. 10 students be are taken in the course each year. The principal objective of the course is to provide a refractionist with learning opportunities and experience which will enable them to explore, improve their knowledge base and develop confidence in their expertise as a refractionist.

Ophthalmic O.T Technician

The time duration of the Operation Theatre Technician course is one year. This course combines a series of lectures, interactive learning sessions, demonstrations, and substantial exposure to clinical work. The academic staff teaching on the course is from a very experienced background of working in the Operation Theatre. This training prepares the student to take on the position of an Ophthalmic Operation Theater Technician (OOTT), and become a competent and reliable member of the health care team.

Ophthalmic Assistant Course/Diploma

In academic year 2020, LRBT School of Ophthalmic Paramedicine introduced the Ophthalmic Assistant (2 years’ diploma program) in Karachi in 2020 affiliation with Jinnah Medical College Hospital, Karachi. We induct 10 students every year who have qualified F.Sc (Pre-medical). An Ophthalmic Assistant is a person who works with an Ophthalmologist to provide assistance to doctors in their duties. Ophthalmic Assistants take histories, perform various tests and procedures and prepare patients for clinical examination by doctors.

Students from all of LRBT hospitals are being encouraged for their academic performance by being awarded gifts from the faculty members.
